Testing My Ukrainian
I took a test last weekend to find out where I actually am in Ukrainian. Cold, no prep, no second attempt.
It gave me a number. I do not trust the number.
It is multiple choice. On a three-option question you get roughly one in three right by guessing, so some of what came back is luck rather than knowledge. The honest way to read it is as a ceiling on what I know, not a measurement of it.
That is not a complaint about the test. It is worth knowing about any way you check yourself. A number that includes your guesses is still useful. It just tells you the most you might know, not the least.
So what do you use to check where you are. And when it gives you a good answer, do you know how much of it you actually earned.
