“The Wizards might have the WORST defense in the league, so there’s no need for a lengthy explanation. They rank in the bottom 10 in virtually every key defensive metric. Specifically, they allow:
- #1 MOST points to PnR Roll Men,
- #2 MOST free-throw points,
- #8 MOST points in transition,
- #9 MOST points from put-backs,
- #4 MOST points from post-ups.
Towns gets 65% of his points from these exact areas. Washington also plays at the 4th-fastest pace, gives up the 6th-most paint points, and the 5th-most points from above-the-break positions, where KAT scores the bulk of his points.
Additionally, Brunson is questionable for this game, and I believe he WON’T play. If that’s the case, we might gain some CLV right away. Valančiūnas and Sarr typically play drop coverage and often defend one-on-one, which should be an almost perfect matchup for Towns. I’m hoping KAT can take full advantage and reach 30+ points if everything goes according to plan.
