TL;DR: This article proves SEO is powering ChatGPT's answers. Us SEOs are used to get point at the next thing to fall with every new update to the internet. Since about last year, with the arrival and increasing use of AI I've heard so many times "SEO is dead, AI will be doing all the searches by [insert day of next week here]". Yet, the need for SEO has boomed in the same time frame.
I never understood why people wants AI to kill SEO so bad. By the way AI has been explained to me I've always thought it to be just faster Google as it takes basically everything it can get its claws on and formulate an answer based on that information; ergo, Search Engine Result Pages.
Proof of this, at least with one AI, came out late last month in this beautiful article, which exposes ChatGPT uses up to 80% of Google Snippets to generate answers. Yes, AI has arrived to make SEO processes easier and faster, but SEO is still what keeps AI results relevant and I hardly see that changing.
