START HERE: Welcome to the Musicate Academy with MS! 🙏🏻🎹
I'm so glad you're here. Whether you've just sat down at a piano for the very first time, or you're returning after years away — this space was made for you. My name is MS, and I've spent the past 18 years teaching piano to people of all ages and experience levels. Over that time, I've seen the same thing again and again: adults who want to play, but who've been held back by intimidating methods, busy lives, or simply not knowing where to start. This community exists to change that. What This Space Is for: This is a calm, encouraging place for adults who want to learn piano — not just to perform, but to connect. With music. With themselves. With something that's entirely theirs. Here you'll find free resources, sheet music, backing tracks, musical insights, and a community of people on the same journey. No pressure. No rush. Just music, at your pace. Here's How to Get Started 👇 🎬 Step 1: Watch the Welcome Video Head to the Classroom tab and watch the short welcome video first. It'll give you a feel for how this space works and what's coming — including workshops and guided lessons for members who want more structure down the road. (It's short. I promise.) 📚 Step 2: Explore the Classroom Inside the Classroom you'll find the Tools and Resources Library — your starting point for everything. Inside, you'll find: - 🎵 Downloadable sheet music - 🎧 Backing tracks to play along with - 📖 Musical insights and learning guides - 🛠️ Practical tools to support your practice Bookmark anything that feels useful. There's no right or wrong place to begin. 💬 Step 3: Jump Into the Community This is the heart of the space — and it only gets better when people show up and share. Browse the feed, say hello, ask a question, or share what you're working on. Everyone here is learning. Everyone is welcome. Don't just scroll — join in. (See the prompt below 👇) 🌟 Step 4: Check Out Your Support Options Your Standard membership gives you full community access and the resources library — completely free.

Why do some adults stick with piano — and others quietly quit?
Hey everyone 👋 I just published something I've wanted to make for a long time. (video below) It's called **Why Some Adult Piano Students Succeed (And Others Quit)** — and it's really a video about you. About us. About what's actually happening underneath the surface when an adult sits down at a piano and decides to keep going. I've been teaching adults long enough to notice that the ones who stay aren't always the most talented. They're the ones who go through a few specific shifts — in confidence, in identity, in how they relate to mistakes. I cover five of those shifts in the video. You'll probably recognise yourself in at least one of them. The one that surprised most people I've shared this with? Identity. The moment a student stops saying *"I'm trying to learn piano"* and starts saying *"I play piano"* — something changes. The way they practise. The way they respond to a hard week. The way they talk about themselves. You might already be further along that journey than you realise. 🎹 Watch when you have 10 minutes and come back here to tell me — which of the five principles hit closest to home for you? I'd genuinely love to know. ❤️
Feeling Overwhelmed? Try This Method When You are Sightreading
Hi there, I love how everyone has their own challenges when playing a piece of music. Since we all learn learn differently. I thought I would share this video with you that can give you a possible way of sight reading. The objective is not so much about getting the rhythm correct, but rather seeing how you can read from one note to the next. Let me know if you find these alternative learning resources helpful. 🫶

Tired of stiff wrists? Watch this. 🎹
Are your wrists feeling tight, sore, or exhausted after just 20 minutes of piano practice? You are not alone. Stiff wrists are the number one enemy of speed, expression, and beautiful tone. More importantly, tension leads to injury. The Drop-and-Relax Drill: A daily warm-up exercise to build muscle memory. Don't fight the keys and let the weight of your arms do the work. Watch the video below. 😊
