👋 Welcome to the Montessori Parenting Community
If you’re here, I’m guessing you’ve felt something like this: - You like Montessori, but you’re not trying to turn your house into a beige showroom - You want calm, capable kids, but you also live with real humans - You believe in respect and boundaries, and sometimes still lose your cool at 6pm Same. I’m Taj. I’m a Montessori 3–6 guide, currently a teacher aide in a Montessori 6–9 classroom, and a parent who has worked with children across early childhood and primary settings for years. I’ve trained in Montessori education through NAMC and AMI, supported hundreds of children in real classrooms, and spend a lot of time translating Montessori theory into what actually works at home. You may also have been part of the Montessori at Home Australia Facebook community, which over the last five years grew to nearly 20,000 parents and caregivers. I created that community, and this one, because I kept seeing the same gap. Parents were either being told to control harder,or to step back completely. Montessori offers a third path. Calm, clear leadership. That’s what we practise here. This community is about Montessori parenting in real life. Not the Instagram version, and not the anything-goes version either. Here’s what Montessori parenting means here: - Parents lead kindly, clearly, and confidently - Children have freedom within limits, not freedom from limits - The focus is on capability, responsibility, and connection, not perfection What this space is not: - A gentle parenting echo chamber where adults tiptoe around children - A behaviour-chart, sticker-reward, threat-based zone - A place where anyone is expected to be calm all the time You don’t need perfect shelves, perfect language, or perfect answers. Most people here are figuring this out in real time. What matters is being willing to reflect, adjust, and keep leading, even on the hard days. To start, I’d love to know: What is it about Montessori that brought you here? One sentence is perfect. A longer rant is welcome too ;)
