Mom Comes First Workshop is happening in 3 days
Spotlight Effect
Ladies, it's been awhile since I've been on here. Summer keeps me busy, and I'm sure it does for you too being moms! Something came to the surface this summer with my oldest, and I'm calling it "Spotlight Effect." You know, when you think everything is about you, like you are the center of everyone's thoughts. We've all been there. Case in point: this morning's drop off... I'm juggling the kids, so I naturally ran out of time for myself, hair not done, no bra on, and all I can think is "oh my God, everybody can see my nipples" while I was walking my little one to class. I try to remind myself every other mom is just trying to get her own kid out the door, half of them probably forgot something too. Nobody is thinking about my nipples. They are thinking about their coffee or FREEDOM. Insert what I like to call "Spotlight Effect." We think we're the main character in everyone else's head when really, everyone's too busy starring in their own. (or let's at least hope thats true). I've been coaching for over 3 years now, and I see this over and over. The thoughts we think and the stories we tell ourselves keep us small, stuck, limited. What if you stepped out of that "Spotlight" and told yourself a better version of that thought? What keeps you from being generous with the thoughts you think others are having about you? Do you even notice when you're doing it? The tip that worked for my daughter, we first have to notice it, then name it. See that you're doing it, stop the thought, then think of one alternative version that could be true too. We talk a lot about two things being true in our home. What if we can also create space for two thoughts to be true, and then pick the better version? I'd love to hear from some of you. What's one thought that keeps on replay in your head?

When the mind wont stop....what do you do?
Am I the only one who's mind goes crazy the moment her head hits her pillow. I write my bet speeches and content when I'm in bed! Sometimes I catch the thought and do something, other times I just obsess don't sleep and forget my great idea in the morning. What do you do? Do you journal at night to calm the mind, or do you have another great tip?
