Consistency Doesn’t Mean 100% Every Day
You do not always need to push harder. Something I have been learning lately is that consistency doesn't mean performing at 100% every single day. Some days you have the energy to do everything. Other days, even one small action feels difficult. I used to look at those slower days like I was losing momentum. But I'm starting to see it differently. Momentum isn't about never slowing down. It's about not turning one slow day into giving up completely. If today isn't your best day, shrink the goal. Send the email. Write the post. Go for the walk. Brainstorm those amazing ideas in your head and write them down. Do one small thing that keeps you connected to where you are going. Then recover and come back tomorrow. Consistency isn't doing everything every day. It is continuing to return.

Make the First Step Easier Than Saying No
Something I have noticed about myself is that I don't actually hate working out. I hate starting. Once I am at the gym, I'm usually fine. The hardest part is getting myself from wherever I am to actually walking through the door. So instead of thinking about the whole workout, I've started breaking it down. Don't think about the hour. Put on the clothes. Get out the door. Get to the gym. Then worry about the workout. I think we make a lot of things harder by trying to mentally complete the entire task before we have even started it. If there is something you have been putting off, ask yourself: What's the smallest first step I can take that gets me moving? You don't always need more motivation. Sometimes you just need less friction.

Why You Keep Getting Stuck
Sometimes the hardest part isn’t doing the work. It’s getting yourself to start. In this video, I talk about why we make starting harder than it needs to be, and how shrinking that first step can help us finally get moving. What’s something you’ve been putting off because the first step feels too big?

Stop Making the First Step So Big
One thing I’ve noticed is that we often make starting harder than it needs to be. “Work out” becomes an hour at the gym. “Work on my business” becomes finishing an entire project. “Get my life together” becomes changing everything at once. Try shrinking it. Don’t work out. Put your shoes on. Don’t finish the project. Open it and work for 10 minutes. Don’t fix your whole routine. Pick one thing to do today. Make the first step so easy that it’s harder to avoid than to do. What’s something you could make smaller today? Comment below 👇
