Field Parameters in Direct Lake Models
One of my team members sent a message this morning discussing the limitations of Direct Lake models. And one of the things he mentioned was that he didn't know how to add Field Parameters as the menu option doesn't existing in Service or when editing in desktop.
I knew it could be done with Tabular editor, but we don't have access to that tool at this particular client.
We learned today that you can use a notebook with the Semantic Link Labs library to add parameters.
There are a ton of things you can do with semantic models with that library. And I highly suggest folks check out the GitHub repository for it. You will need to enable Read/Write on the XMLA endpoint first, though. This is done in the Admin Portal > Capacity Settings > select your capacity to get to the right menu for the option. It's set to Read by default.
