A few years ago I started planking for time. I had a conversation with a coaching client of mine and at the time I was "pushing myself", and I told him I had just hit 4 minutes. (a record for me at the time)
He laughed and said, "you should be doing 15 minutes!"
Those who know me, know I'm a little competitive- so it was ON.
We had a plank challenge streak and every day I would add 15 seconds or so...
before I knew it I was planking for 19 minutes!!! over 4x from what I thought was "pushing myself."
It wasn't too long after that I read Can't Hurt Me by David Goggin's where he talks about the Navy SEAL 40% Rule- (when you feel like giving up, you're only at 40% of your capacity)
It became SUPER clear to me on what we had to do...
Create an environment where more people get the accountability and PUSH from people that are rooting for them on a daily basis - it is CRUCIAL to find your individual peak performance.
