Hi i'm new here!
Hello, my name is Mitty. I live on the Gold Coast in beautiful Australia! Long story short, I recently took the ultimate plunge by signing up to this amazing course. I have been a longtime fan of Mastering.com and knew about a year ago that this was the next step I wanted to take. It took some time for me to finally make it reality. I am super excited to get things started and, to be honest, I don't know where it is going to take me. So, let's head into the unknown, shall we? I front a band here called Lotus Ship, and you can find our music all over the web! Singing and guitar have always been passions of mine, and songwriting process has never stopped. I wrote my first song at the age of 15 called "Flowers in the Waterfall"—not a normal song to be written at that age. Our band's musical format passes through rock, country, folk, metal, alternative rock, funk, and soundscapes. At the age of "you can do anything," I have always chosen to do whatever the F I wanted to do. My voice goes where it chooses to. Currently, I am working on a new album with the band called Uncommon Denominator (which is looking to get a big stamp of approval as the offical album title). However, a big cloud hovered over me, and I knew that I lacked one key ingredient: it was my goal to produce the next album entirely myself with the tools I have, either those I own or with the help of my community. I feel that I could even get a grasp on producer lingo in order to communicate with producers so I can have it sounding as I intended. This next step is actually scary; however, that is what it is to be an artist—or just me in general. Other projects I am working on are a musical/fantasy/rock opera/play and unrelated to music, a book. Anyways, that is me at this present time. I can't wait to meet all of you around each crevice of the world, as we all transcend to places we only dreamed about to one day be real, Today is that day for me :) Thanks for reading :P Mitty

šŸ”„ Bandcamp-Alternative Subvert.fm Co-Op Artist-Owned Platform
Are you looking for alternatives to Bandcamp and Spotify? This new artist-owned Bandcamp alternative is now open to the public. You get to keep 100% of your own profits! Bandcamp was sold to investors in 2023, and they take more of your money. Subert is a cooperative, and you can own a piece as a co-owner or join as an artist for free. I have been with them through alpha and beta testing, and there are fewer than 18k artists on the platform right now. šŸ˜Ž Here's my page (and the promo video I made this morning): https://www.subvert.fm/les-konley

Don't Be Fooled...
I'm new to this amazing community and already feel as though I've finally found an amazing family! I wanted to share a little about my situation if I may... We built a very high-end music production studio the beginning of this year. The investment was north of $50k! I am not sharing this to flex but to say, my thought in building this studio was "if I only had my dream studio, I could move mountains for my family and my career as a music producer". It turns out that, even though I am extremely grateful and humbled every time I get to come in here and work on projects, getting caught up in the idea that we can ONLY achieve our goals if we have this amazing thing or that amazing thing is very self-defeating and self-sabotaging! Although it is an awesome feeling being able to work with all the hardware and software this studio has to offer, I can say with absolute certainty that I deal more with overwhelm and frustration having too many choices that kill momentum and inspiration very quickly. A simple setup (laptop, headphones, interface, condenser mic, DAW) would've done just as much with MUCH less headache as having all the shiny new plugins and softwares etc. I just want to say, don't let the thought "if only I had ..." get between you and your goals. Don't be fooled by that idea that you need this thing or that thing to be great at what you do...I'm here to tell you, it's simply not at all true. You will be great at what you do because YOU decide what you have (and don't have) aren't going to determine your story, only what you choose to do now determines your story.
