New event: Mixing with Channel Strips 🎛️
Hey everyone, We're hosting a brand new, free 3-day event next week called Mixing with Channel Strips. It starts Monday Dec 15th at 10am Eastern (earlier than usual). I'll be mixing a song from start to finish, using only channel strips. This is a great way to force yourself to focus on core principles, while also keeping things simple and adding analog character. On day 3, we'll also master the track, and listen to your submitted mixes, with prizes for the best. This event is hosted in partnership with SSL and Slate Digital, and I'll be using a range of channel iconic channels trips from both companies (software and hardware). You can find the event here in the Calendar tab, or click the link below to go straight there. Then you can add it to your personal calendar and grab the Zoom link. https://www.skool.com/mastering/calendar?eid=fc5533346b734994a379288bf44237bf&eoid=1765810800 See you there! Rob

Mentor call booking update
Hey all, thanks for your patience as we continue to find the optimum system for handling mentor calls here in Skool. In short, the easiest way to book your monthly session is by going to Classroom then opening the course called "Mentor Check-In Booking Link". Here you will find the link to book along with more information and a breakdown of each mentor. Here is a direct link: https://www.skool.com/mastering/classroom/57934705?md=ee483932abd443c4922b05f789b4bf93 For now, we have removed the mentor calls from the Calendar page, as people were trying to attend sessions that didn't have any bookings. The next booking isn't currently until Dec 8th, and we will find a way to publicly show what calls are coming up, so you can sit in on calls when you want to. Please do comment below if you have any questions! Either way, the important thing for now is to go ahead and book your session for December before it gets too close to the holidays! Cheers, Rob

Producer 101- Notes Comparison Discussion?
I know some of you have already done this. I know some are on it right now. I am curious as to how/what you guys did or got to and such. I mean there is no one but ourselves checking out our work, unless we do a mentor call right? Well, we can check each others work out and then we can leave the more important things or whatever it may be for mentor calls. Though these are basics and probably as important as anything else, however trivial it may seem. Reference track analyses/eqing, do you guys build your profile with whole song, then eq by comparing the profiles? Or just parts of it here and there? Limiting to RMS -9, Did you do this over the entirety of the song, or by analyzing parts of the song? how did you go about achieving it? Some analyzers are momentary, and some build upon the value. Were you happy with the results after compression/saturation/EQ etc and then Limiting to -9RMS? Did you feel the changes were sufficient to the song mixes, or do you feel that they're just showing us some processes to ensure we understand what the tools do, to move forward? Something to get us all interacting I hope. \m/ I wasn't quite happy with the results I got, so I didn't bother saving the files even. But if you guys would like to check it or compare, I'll just redo a bit later when/if I get that chance. I redid it, not quite sure if it suffices. I struggled more this time, probably because I am not feeling too well and using different tools this time around. Personally... I don't even know what to think about it. https://drive.google.com/file/d/15SGlSUEk46TsGoM32lsLV50Zr-dJP-ef/view?usp=sharing
My Learning Journey So Far… (Vocal Focused/VIP Subscription)
I plan to use this simply as a public journal. My notes will heavily focus on what I find most interesting and pertinent to the music I’m producing, which is focused mostly on vocals, with piano accompaniment (maybe sometimes Ukulele, if I can figure out how to record my daughter playing it). Because of that, I will still go through the lessons focused on other things (like drums, and stuff), but will not likely have many (if any) notes about that stuff (so NOT comprehensive). I also have the VIP Subscription, so this may have notes on stuff you do not yet have access to (which may or may not be confusing—I don’t know). Please also note that I don’t promise that my notes will be completely accurate, as I may not fully understand something when I make a note about it. Completed courses: - Start Here (Premium & VIP) - Intro to Small/Home Studio - Check-In Booking & Replay Links - Major DAW Tutorials: Logic Quickstart Next courses: - Logic Pro 11 Complete Tutorial - Vocal Intensive - Music Production 101 - Music Production 102 Later maybe (I don’t know yet): - NYC Recording Masterclass - NYC Mixing Masterclass - Mixing with Stock Plugins - How to Use an Equalizer - How to Use Compression - How to Use Reverb - How to Mix Like a Pro - How to Master Your Music - Cheat Sheets & Resources - Mixing & Mastering Cheat Sheets - Event Replays - Music Production for Beginners [NOTE: focused on producing beats, according to Luke Despain. Not likely I’ll use that.] - How to Produce Modern Pop
