- Recite Takbir: It is Sunnah to recite the Takbir from the sunset of the last day of Ramadan until the Imam begins the Eid prayer.
The Takbir: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha ill-Allah, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, wa Lillaahil-hamd.
2. Perform Ghusl: Take a full ritual bath on the morning of Eid to ensure physical and spiritual cleanliness.
3. Adorn Yourself: Wear your best clothes (they do not have to be new) and apply fragrance (for men).
4. Eat Before Leaving: Unlike Eid ul-Adha, it is Sunnah to eat something sweet—specifically an odd number of dates—before heading to the prayer ground to signify that the fast has ended.
5. Pay Zakat al-Fitr: Ensure your Zakat al-Fitr (Fitrana) is paid before the Eid prayer starts so that the needy can also celebrate.
