A few days ago, my 6.5-month-old daughter was so active that sometimes we would feel exhausted.
She wouldn’t sleep easily.
She would move nonstop.
She would demand attention all the time.
And honestly? Sometimes we would say, “Ya Allah, just let her sleep for a while.”
Then she got sick.
Diarrhea. IV treatment. Weakness. Vomiting.
And suddenly… the house became quiet.
Too quiet.
Now she doesn’t move the way she used to.
She isn’t as playful.
She looks tired.
And today, I found myself missing the very “unrest” that once irritated me.
It hit me deeply:
We complain about blessings when we have them.
We recognize them only when they pause.
Health is a blessing.
Energy is a blessing.
Noise is a blessing.
Even sleepless nights are a blessing.
Sometimes Allah teaches gratitude not by taking something away permanently…
but by showing us what life feels like without it.
I can’t wait for the day she becomes that hyper, unstoppable little girl again.
And this time, I won’t complain.
Morel: If you’re currently tired because of something that’s actually a blessing — pause and reflect.
One day, you might miss exactly what you’re complaining about today.
