Taking 100% responsibility isn’t always a good thing, especially as an elder daughter.
In our society, this becomes a built-in mechanism, or what many call Elder Daughter Syndrome. I disagree with the idea that it’s something positive, because an elder daughter is already carrying so much responsibility. She starts believing that she can fix her siblings, solve family problems, and handle everything on her own. This mindset puts immense pressure on her life.
What makes it worse is that it’s not only her own thinking her family also expects her to be responsible and manage everything. These unrealistic expectations slowly damage her mental health.
