Data Analytics Project : 9 Superstore Sales Report I’m excited to share my latest Power BI project a comprehensive Superstore Sales and Profit Analysis Dashboard. This report analyzes multi-year performance across sales, profit, customer segments, categories, and regions. The goal was to uncover actionable insights that help businesses improve profitability and make data-driven decisions.
The analysis highlights several key metrics, including total sales of $2.297M, total profit of $286.4K, and a 12.47% overall profit margin across 5,009 orders. Technology emerged as the top-performing category with $836K in sales, while Furniture faced significant margin challenges. Region-wise, the West generated the highest profit at $108.4K, and the Central region showed the lowest. High discounting—especially in Binders with an average discount of 37.2 percent—was found to heavily impact margins.
The data also revealed an important operational insight: the return rate stands at 15.97 percent, indicating a need to improve product quality checks, packaging, and communication. Monthly sales spikes toward 2019 show strong seasonality and recurring demand trends across the market.
Based on the findings, the business should focus more on the West region and the Technology category. Reducing excessive discounting, optimizing logistics, and revisiting pricing strategies for low-profit items can significantly improve performance. This dashboard serves as a strong foundation for strategic, data-driven decision-making.
