What Truly Helped You Learn a Second Language?
Everyone’s language-learning journey is different, and we can all learn from each other.
What made the biggest difference for you when learning a second language?
For me, it was two things.
First, total immersion:making American friends, joining communities, consuming content in English, and making the language part of my everyday life instead of just something I studied.
Second, a technique called shadowing. It’s where you imitate native speakers as closely as possible whether it’s movie scenes, interviews, podcasts, or even singers.
I actually still do it to this day. Sometimes I probably look a little crazy talking to myself in the mirror… but it works. 😄
