Overworked CNA/STNAs
Hi I worked many years in Nursing, I started out as a CNA for 13 yrs before going to college to get my RN degree. I worked as a Cardiac/Telemetry nurse, Staff nursing in LTC, Director of Nursing LTC and ALF’s. I also worked at Hospice as a Case Manager. I hold Licenses in NY, Florida and Ohio. Unfortunately the quality of care is about the same in all states. I say Unfortunately because the care for our elderly is lacking to say the least. The staffing ratios is entirely too high. A CNA can not care for a patients daily needs when caring for 10-15 patients. Just think about that. They have surgical patients, LTC Demented patients, total care patients with very few that are minimal care. There is just no way for them to provide quality care for 15 patients in 8 hrs. Bathing, dressing and grooming, making beds, toileting, feeding. It is so so much. It is quite sad actually. I have not even touched on the Nursing role but this is my immediate concern about the on hands care for the most vulnerable population. The people that gave life some to many, worked, held families together and now they have to wait for 20 to 40 minutes to even go the bathroom. We need to do better. I remember working as a DON and being asked to go to Washington to help Lobby to keep the staffing ratio high or get them even higher I totally refused to do it. I saw what having one aid for 10 people looks like, i have seen what a nurse overseeing a nightshirt with responsibility for 30-40 patients looks like. So yes we have to do better.

Hello Y'all 🤠 👋🏻! Name is Angie and I've been in healthcare since 2013. I have seen a lot of different things in my career. All my life I've loved to help people. Just my nature I guess. I adore the elderly population as they have seen so much in their lives. I love hearing stories of the past and comparing it to the present. I love what I do and enjoy making old souls comfortable in the twilight of their lives. I am saddened by how corporations place profit over people, quantity over quality. I don't understand how or why people go into this type of work without an ounce of compassion. I don't understand why they reward the lazy and scorn the hardworking. Anyway I enjoy art and music, watching movies and, being goofy 🤪. I fully believe laughter is the best medicine.

Hi all, I'm Jeremy. I've been in Healthcare since 2005. I started as an aid and got my LPN in 2009. I've worked multiple disciplines, LTC/SNF, Hospice, AL, Group homes. I'm currently DON of a small assisted living facility. I started this community because I'm tired, I'm burnt out, I'm saddened at the way the care of our elderly is trending. I need y'all to know that there are so many people like you, and I, that feel like we do. I want to start a community of people who can come together and vent safely, for burnout prevention, peer advice, mental health support and to brainstorm and eventually pass some legislation to change the trajectory of LTC/SNF/AL facilities. I'm no expert, I'm not special, just an empath who really loves old people. Please reach out with any questions, I'll be as responsive as I can.
