Locksmith vs Handyman
I can teach anyone how to pop open a car door, but that doesn’t make them a locksmith. I’ve run into people who say that they are locksmith’s but don’t live up to the job. A customer calls them for a rekey, but they just change the hardware. They are called for a lockout and they destroy the lock and sell them a new one. Those examples are glorified handymen. Can you tear apart a lock down to it’s pins and rebuild it? Can you fix the lock that matches all the others on the customer’s home, saving them hundreds if not thousands, and making them very happy? Can you pick the lock and save their hardware? Can you file a working key by hand? These are the kind of things that make someone a locksmith. I’m reaching out across the country to help people see that you can learn to do these things. You don’t have to do every aspect of locksmithing, you can specialize in one or two. I provide video tutorials on how to handle some of the common issues that a locksmith might encounter. I will also do Zoom lessons as groups and one on one.
