Multiplying Moons
Yesterday, while I was drinking, I happened to look out the window and noticed that the moon was really beautiful. So I moved out onto the porch and started watching the moon while drinking.
I was just staring at the moon, mesmerized. Then I happened to rub my right eye.
Another moon appeared.
“What’s that?” I thought.
So I rubbed my right eye again. Then one more moon appeared.
Wow.
One moon was already beautiful, so of course three moons were even more beautiful.
Then my right ear started to itch. Before that, I’d felt like the three moons were chatting with each other. So I scratched my right ear.
Suddenly, I could hear what they were talking about.
“It’s night.”
“Yeah, it’s night.”
“There are stars.”
“Yeah, there are stars.”
“I agree.”
There was no fun in their conversation at all.
So I scratched my right ear again. Then the tone of their conversation changed.
“What a beautiful night!”
“Yeah, a very beautiful night!”
“Absolutely! And there are lots of beautiful stars!”
“Yeah, wonderfully beautiful stars!”
“Yeah! Great!”
Apparently, every time I scratched my right ear, they became more positive.
So I scratched my right ear one more time, and they changed even further.
“Yeah! I’m full of energy!”
“Me too!”
“We can do anything!”
“Yeah! Let’s do something no one has ever done before!”
Their tone was getting a bit too positive for me, so I tried to get them back to how they were at first.
But I didn’t know how.
I pulled my left earlobe, scratched my left ear, and rubbed my left eye, but nothing happened.
So I gave up, went back inside, and closed the window and the curtains. But I could still hear their noisy conversation drifting into my room.
So I picked up some cheese I’d been eating, made two small blocks out of it, and stuck them in my ears like earplugs.
Then I went to bed.
And I slept well.
That’s it.
