They are called astringent persimmons.
You can’t eat them right after picking them from the trees because they’re too bitter to eat. But if you store them in a cool area for a while, they become sweeter and sweeter incrementally.
They’re extremely sweet. I love them. My father usually sends me a couple of boxes every fall.
But if you eat one too many, you’ll need bran muffins, coffee, and some soothing pastoral images to help induce poo.........
