Raising My Floor: The Morning I Finally Saw What Living Strong Projects Really Is
This morning, I spent a few hours doing something I honestly haven’t done deeply enough in a long time…
I sat down and really unpacked what Living Strong Projects truly is becoming.
Not just the postcard.
Not just the articles.
Not just the videos.
Not just the Facebook page.
But the deeper WHY behind all of it.
And I’ll be honest with you…
As I get ready to turn 65 years old this Saturday, May 9th, I’ve been standing in a strange place emotionally these past several years.
On one side:
A karate school and community I’ve been connected to since 1999.
A place that helped shape me, teach me, and give me purpose for decades.
On the other side:
This growing vision called Living Strong Projects LLC.
For a while, I think I was seeing them as two separate things.
But this morning, something clicked.
I realized that Living Strong Projects isn’t separate from my life…
It’s the FRAME through which I now see my life, my work, my relationships, my creativity, and my future.
Living Strong Projects is about human beings.
Human beings with stories.
Human beings with struggles.
Human beings trying to build something meaningful.
Human beings trying to stay hopeful.
Human beings trying to stay useful.
Human beings trying to grow.
That includes local business owners.
And lately, something has been firing me up deeply:
Sitting down with local business owners and hearing their stories.
Not just what they sell.
Not just what they do.
But WHY they do it.
The struggles.
The pressure.
The risks.
The family sacrifices.
The perseverance.
The hope.
Yesterday I spoke with the owner of a local family-run business that has been serving our community for 60 years. He shared how a massive corporation moved in right next door to them, and how difficult that season was for them emotionally and financially.
But he also shared how the community rallied around them.
And listening to him, something hit me deeply…
This is what Living Strong Projects is really about.
Helping local communities reconnect with the HUMAN BEINGS behind the businesses, organizations, and stories that shape our everyday lives.
The Big Ask Card…
The Living Strong Spotlight page…
The interviews…
The videos…
The stories…
The podcasts…
The conversations…
They’re all connected.
This is becoming a human-centered local media platform focused on:
hope,
storytelling,
visibility,
community,
creativity,
and human connection.
And honestly?
I think the biggest breakthrough I had today was realizing this:
I’m not trying to become “more corporate.”
I’m trying to become MORE HUMAN.
More patient.
More understanding.
More connected.
More creative.
More collaborative.
More willing to truly listen to people.
And maybe most importantly…
More willing to believe that this next season of my life is not a winding down…
But an expansion.
A deeper expression of usefulness, purpose, and contribution.
One of the most powerful realizations I had today was this:
The stories ARE the infrastructure.
Not “extra content.”
The stories create:
connection,
trust,
visibility,
hope,
community,
and growth.
And now I understand something even more clearly:
Living Strong Projects helps local communities connect with each other and grow.
That’s the mission.
One story at a time.
One business at a time.
One conversation at a time.
One human being at a time.
And right now, I’m excited.
Because this week, the first Big Ask Card goes out to 5,000 homes in our community.
And now my focus is simple:
Get every business on that card spotlighted and connected to the community through stories, articles, videos, and human connection.
We’re building an ecosystem.
And honestly…
I think this is only the beginning.
Living Strong.
