This past week, I had the opportunity to sit down and reconnect with someone from a very special chapter of my life…
Nina Pressing.
We shared the stage together back in 1997–1998 in Starlight Express during its 10-year anniversary run… she as Pearl… me as Rocky 3.
And here we are… years later… sitting across from each other again—this time, not on stage… but in conversation.
And I’ll tell you…
It was powerful.
---
What I loved most about our conversation was not just what Nina has done… but how she experienced it.
She talked about doing eight shows a week… not as something exhausting…
…but as something she needed.
That rhythm.
That discipline.
That connection.
She spoke about the energy of the audience… the laughter… the reaction… the feeling of being in it, live, in the moment.
Especially in the shows where comedy played a role…
She lit up talking about that.
There’s something about making people laugh… something about feeling that immediate response from the audience…
That connection.
That feedback.
That life.
---
We walked through her journey…
From her early beginnings…
to her audition for Starlight Express…
to stepping into leading roles…
…and beyond.
Into productions like Evita, Cats, Chicago, West Side Story…
Roles that demand more than talent…
They demand presence… commitment… and truth.
And what stood out to me was this…
Nina didn’t just perform…
👉 She grew through every stage of it.
She discovered herself in it.
She found strength in it.
She found joy in it.
---
And now…
She continues to create and perform… including her show “Liza to Nina”…
Bringing her voice, her experience, and her love for the stage into something that reflects who she is today.
---
This conversation reminded me of something I talk about often…
Living Strong isn’t about avoiding the hard work…
It’s about stepping into it.
It’s about showing up… again and again…
and finding something in yourself you didn’t fully see before.

🎙️ Our full conversation will be released this Sunday, March 29th on the Living Strong Podcast.
I think you’re going to feel this one.
