How was I diagnosed with cancer?
I was getting sick a lot in early 2001. I would get over something then be sick again. It was routine every month. i was suffering in pain in my abdomin a lot. If i moved the wrong way I felt shooting pain up my left side. I finally went in to see my family physician for help. She sent me off to see OBGYN and discovered an issue. It was a tumor blocking the path of conceiving. It was discussed with my OBGYN that surgery was necessary. This happened August 13, 2001 at 9 am in Ajax/ Pickering Hospital. Little did I know what happened during surgery could have ended me there at age 32. I'm still here to share my story. I was told of the difficulties and how they overcame them. Being of strong mind and faith and spirit I'm still here. The surgen and nurses setup my appointment at the Sunnybrook Odette Cancer centre in Toronto. Wow, what a day that was. So much to take in. I was in tears. When you are told that you have cancer your not sure what to do or think. It was a huge adjustment for me. With a strong mind and body plus recovery from surgery I made a huge decision. I was going to do the chemo, which was put on hold for 9 months. Happy days!!! My first child.
