Let's Go to the Highlight Reel
Here’s the truth: most people won’t sit through your full video -- even if it’s amazing. But give them a short, punchy reel with a clear hook? Now you have their attention.
Over the past two weeks, I’ve gone back through my older videos — business spotlights, tips, interviews, tours, et cetera and started turning them into short-form content. Reels. Clips. Highlights. And here’s what’s wild: they’re getting more likes, more views, and way more engagement than the originals did.
Even better? I’m tagging the business again, tagging a few friends who might like it, linking back to the full video — and boom, it’s getting shared around all over again.
Here’s how you can do the same.
3 Steps to Break Down Long Content Into Reels:
1. Look for Natural “Clips” Find 15–45 second moments in the video that stand on their own. Look for:
  • A great quote
  • A laugh or reaction
  • A helpful tip
  • A before/after transformation
2. Add a Quick HookStart with an attention grabber in the first 2–3 seconds. This could be:
  • A bold statement (“This one thing changed their foot traffic overnight…”)
  • A question (“Would you try this?”)
  • A visual pop or sound effect
3. Use the Right Tags & LinksDon’t just repost — amplify it:
  • Tag the business again
  • Tag 2–3 friends who’d enjoy it
  • Link back to the original post for the full story
  • Use location tags to reach a local audience
Why This Works:
  • People love quick wins — short tips and stories they can consume fast
  • It keeps your content alive — especially if it didn’t get seen the first time
  • It creates more touchpoints with your audience without starting from scratch
Action Step: Find one old video this week and cut it into a short reel with a hook. Tag the business and 3 friends, add a link to the original, and see what happens!
