Guard your Subconscious
As I've been trying to build a healthier subconscious, I've come to a couple of conclusions.
First, I don't think I can erase everything that's already in my subconscious. It's been shaped by years of experiences, conversations, media, relationships, and life. That part is there.
What I can control is what I put into it from this point forward.
I've decided I don't want to be passive anymore. I want to be intentional. That means paying closer attention to the environments I'm in, the shows I watch, the music and podcasts I listen to, and even the conversations I spend time around. Every one of those things is shaping my mind, whether I realize it or not. That means sometimes I have to leave the room from family and friends when they have negative discussions or watching stuff that is not truly helpful.
I've also started being intentional about how I end and begin my day. At night, I try to let my last thoughts or the last thing I listen to be something positive, peaceful, or encouraging. In the morning, I try to start with something that gives me energy, hope, or motivation. Even having something positive playing quietly in the background can make a difference.
To me, it's all about becoming the guard at the gate of my mind. I want to let the good things in and keep the harmful things out.
