Liberated Genius Conversation: 3 Questions with Raquita Henderson
Episode 8 of Liberated Genius Conversations drops today, and @Raquita Henderson just dropped a line that's going to sit with you. "We could be so much further along if we were okay with not being perfect. Perfection is the thing that stops us from doing a lot of stuff." Her words prove that momem beats perfection every single time, and practice grows fastest when fearless confidence leads the way. Raquita picked up a camera and shot her first wedding at age 14. Fourteen. While most of us were figuring out algebra, she was already capturing love stories. In this conversation, she breaks down how she turns her lens into a connection tool. She talks about reading people, building trust in seconds, and finding the beauty that others walk right past. Watch the full episode and see how a teenager with a camera grew into an artist who captures the truth in every frame. Comment "perfection" if it has ever held you back from starting something you were built for. I Punish Myself Worse Than Anyone Else Would
This is for those who have battled loving themselves. For those who have ever thought you didn't matter or weren't worthy. For those who thought you had to be perfect to be loved, by others and by yourself. For most of my life, I battled this. Am I good enough? If I am good, why do I still do things that cause people harm? For me, it has mostly been my words. I know I have a way with them, and when I used them to hurt others, it felt like relief in the moment. Afterward, I felt terrible and would cycle through ruminating, justifying, then hating myself for it. Y'all, I am not perfect. Nobody has to punish me, because I punish myself way worse than anyone else would. My meditation teacher told me I could choose to love myself unconditionally. I could not do it. But I still wondered, how could I love myself unconditionally when I still mess up? Then I heard Michael Beckwith say something that made me reconsider. He said, it is arrogant to think your opinion of yourself is higher than God's truth of who you are. I stopped walking. I played that part again. I had to sit with that for a while. Later, I told my wife, and she asked me, "now what?" To be honest, it changed my whole way of thinking. I am love, loveable, and loving. I now know that I must love myself unconditionally, because the truth of who I am is bigger than any limited idea I hold in any given moment. It set me free, yal. Free to love myself and others. When I mess up, I get back up, apologize, make things right, and try again. This is my practice. If any part of this is your story too, drop a comment below. Tell us what you are practicing unlearning right now and what are you learning to do instead? We're all just practicing being better humans and getting back to, or (re)membering, the truth of who we are. This is our practice in being a Liberated Genius.

I've Been Waiting My Whole Life to Find Someone Like Me.
This is a clip from a keynote I gave to Teaching Artists at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, PA. In it, I sang these words and told the room something I need every one of you to hear too. You do not need to seek outside yourself. Look inside. That person you have been waiting your whole life to find is already you. This weekend, I had a conversation with an artist and business owner who put words to this exact ache. She has done so much by 40 and still feels like she is watching everyone else walk in their purpose while she waits for permission to walk in hers. Watch the clip. Then tell me in the comments, who have you been waiting for? If this stirred something in you and you are ready to stop waiting, schedule a discovery call and let's talk about what coming home to yourself could look like this year. I have 7 spots, and one has your name on it. Schedule Your Discovery Call Here → https://calendly.com/draprilwg/strategysession?month=2026-09

I've Been Waiting My Whole Life to Find Someone Like Me.
"I could only talk to my mama so much."
One of my mentors was the superintendent of one of the largest school districts in the state. One night she told me something I have never forgotten. She said, "April, everything you have is great, and leaders need it. But what I really needed was someone to talk to after coming out of a board meeting at 8 or 9pm. I mean, I could only talk to my mama so much." Sit with that for a second. A woman running an entire district, making decisions that shaped thousands of lives, and the thing she needed most was somebody to call after the meeting ended and the room emptied out. I think about her words every time I talk to a leader like you. You have your own version of that moment. Maybe it is a board meeting. Maybe it is a parent complaint that would not let up. Maybe it is a budget conversation that kept you up all night. And when it is over, who do you call? Who actually gets it, not just as a friend, but as someone who understands the weight of what you carry? Too often leaders pour into everyone else and have few or no one to turn to. That does not have to be your story. I am opening 7 spaces for leaders who want a strategic thought partner, someone who gets it, and a plan built specifically around what you are carrying. Sign up for a discovery call and see if we are a good fit. Schedule Your Discovery Call Here → https://calendly.com/draprilwg/strategysession?month=2026-09 You do not have to do it alone. With love and intention. Dr. April
