Working with charcoal
I posted on YouTube short a short demonstration of the process of charcoal drawing of my cat.
Down below I show the almost finished work. darkened the background so that the light colour of the fur stands out. I said “almost finish” because I tend to leave the work for a day or two and I always find something that calls for improving.
I used a charcoal pencil and pan pastel black. Also I used a little blue pastel to suggest her pale blue eyes and light brown pastel for her coat. The addition of just a little colours emphasizes three dimensional effect.
The tip is not to try to copy the reference photo. My aim is always to capture the vibe of the subject and convey the mood of the moment of life.
What do you think of this work? If you share your opinion, question, or anything, I appreciate it. So please don’t hesitate to leave comments.🙏
