My new YouTube Shorts video
On this video I show how I made a colourful painting of a lovely Amazigue girl in Morocco. I made copies of the photo and started painting using oil pastels. (Actually I did this several months ago.) I skipped the pencil sketch so that I could go straight to enjoying painting in oil pastels. It’s not cheating šŸ˜‰Art is to enjoy the process. What are you painting/drawing today? Please let me know. I have had a bad weekend because of cold, heavy pain in my head and achey bones, it was not easy to move around so I didn’t do much of artwork. Now I feel better and am thinking of my next project. Take care, keep warm and enjoy art!!! Love to you all Midori https://youtube.com/shorts/S97tgFzkzAE?si=EwTK4RJJOkSURwju

Cooking by the fire
Charcoal drawing Charcoal, pan pastel, white pastel pencil It’s in the Sahara desert in Morocco. A nomad cook lit the fire and starts to peel the potatoes for dinner. The night is falling, but the fire is warming the air… After a long day it’s time to unwind and enjoy the peace in the darkness of the desert. The night camp scene is one of my most favorite subject matter, I love the monochrome charcoal drawing that to me the best way to depict the serenity of the desert.

My favorite subject matter
Hello everyone. Are you enjoying painting/drawing? Here is my latest YouTube post of the process of the charcoal drawing. The actual drawing time is approx. 20 minutes. This drawing of a nomad man in white chech (head scarf) is my signature subject matter that I have been doing over the last two and half years. Drawing the portrait of the nomad origin people in the Sahara desert gives me peace and freedom to my soul, as it associates the mental perspective. Let me see your work of your favorite subjectā˜ŗļø Have a wonderful week! Midori https://youtube.com/shorts/YkioObRi9bM?si=jZCVUiO8fnuP3B4d

Working with charcoal
I posted on YouTube short a short demonstration of the process of charcoal drawing of my cat. https://youtube.com/shorts/QEXhAayy2tc?si=vUHlgjSAWQ_GdudG Down below I show the almost finished work. darkened the background so that the light colour of the fur stands out. I said ā€œalmost finishā€ because I tend to leave the work for a day or two and I always find something that calls for improving. I used a charcoal pencil and pan pastel black. Also I used a little blue pastel to suggest her pale blue eyes and light brown pastel for her coat. The addition of just a little colours emphasizes three dimensional effect. The tip is not to try to copy the reference photo. My aim is always to capture the vibe of the subject and convey the mood of the moment of life. What do you think of this work? If you share your opinion, question, or anything, I appreciate it. So please don’t hesitate to leave comments.šŸ™ Scroll to see the photo on the right.

Introduction
Hi šŸ‘‹ I'm a local new Zealand artist that lives at almost the bottom of the world (southland). I mainly work with acrylic on canvas but dabble in other mediums. I prefer to create surrealism art that tells a story especially from personal experiences and trauma as a form of therapy. Also I love expressing myself with weird and wacky art (not the norm... especially where I'm from in invercargill). I also do a lot of realism and hyper realism portraits that I enjoy since I'm really good at faces due to my photographic memory! Just looking for anyone out there that uses surrealism art to tell their own personal stories and struggles as a way of therapy like myself. Also just generally like minded people within the Surrealism style of art and maybe to learn from my own practice aswell (vice versa) Ps: can someone please tell me how to become a full-time artist and have your work wanted and seen!!! I feel like I'm failing, at the one thing I wanna be in life! https://share.google/9KQdf3V3nW9lhi2Ds Also feel free to look at my work and your thoughts below !

@Sharla Clynes Never mind what the society expect you to be

@Sharla Clynes Well if your intention was to annoy the people, you have to be ready to confront the consequences. If someone complained then you were successful in achieving the goal. To me the art shouldn’t be used as an attention seeking tool to satisfy one’s strong desire for recognition.
