Welcome to the Free Legal Forensic Nurse Community!
Hi and welcome! We're so glad you’re here!
If you found your way into this space, there is a good chance you are a nurse who knows deep down there has to be more than burnout, bedside chaos, and feeling like your experience is being underused.
This community was created for nurses who are curious about legal forensic nursing, legal nurse consulting, medical record review, remote nurse careers, and what it really looks like to use your nursing brain in a different way.

Be sure to check out our YouTube channel, Certified Legal Forensic Nurse, and Jan Marie’s books on Amazon if you want to keep learning outside of this group too. That is a great place to start if you are brand new and trying to understand what this field is, how it works, and why so many nurses are drawn to it.
https://a.co/d/0c6dqJHy CRUSH IT - The Nurses Blueprint for Legal Nurse Success (Audible version is outdates, so be sure to only purchase the paperback book, and not the audio). Who is Jan Marie?
Jan Marie is a registered nurse, educator, entrepreneur, and founder of a training program built for nurses who want to step into the legal world in a powerful, strategic, behind-the-scenes role.
But this community was not created just to talk about another nurse side hustle or recycle the same information that has been floating around for years.
Jan Marie created this space because when she stepped into this world back in 2009, she saw a huge gap.
She saw nurses being introduced to legal work in a very limited way.
They were being taught the surface. They were being taught general concepts. They were being taught how to look at records.
But they were not being taught how to really think through a case.
And more importantly, they were missing one of the biggest pieces of the puzzle:
the defense side of legal work.
That matters because when nurses are only taught one narrow version of legal nurse consulting, they are often missing a huge part of what makes them valuable and helps them earn more.
They may know how to summarize a chart.
But that is not the same as knowing how to identify what is missing, spot red flags and inconsistencies, break down timelines, recognize documentation holes, understand how a case may be attacked from the other side, and help attorneys make sense of medical facts in a deeper, more strategic way.
That is exactly why Jan Marie built this differently.
Not to slap a new label on old material.
But because she saw nurses leaving a huge chunk of skill, strategy, and income on the table by not being trained in a deeper way.
So what is legal forensic nursing?
Legal forensic nursing is where healthcare and law intersect in a more strategic, case-focused way.
It iis not just SANE nursing and it is not simply traditional legal nurse consulting with a prettier name.
It is the behind-the-scenes work of helping analyze, organize, interpret, and explain the medical side of legal cases in a way attorneys can actually use. Think CSI and Dateline (yes, her cases have also been featured there).
That can include:
- medical record review
- case analysis
- chronologies and fact summaries
- identifying missing records
- spotting inconsistencies
- reconstructing timelines
- understanding what the chart says and what it does not say
- helping attorneys better understand what medically happened in a case
In simple terms:
Attorneys know law. Nurses know medicine. When a legal case has medical issues buried inside it, someone has to bridge that gap.
That is where this work comes in.
Why this program is different
Jan Marie’s program was created to go deeper than the surface-level education nurses usually get.
This training was built to help nurses develop:
- stronger case analysis skills
- sharper forensic thinking
- a better understanding of legal strategy
- more confidence in reviewing records
- a clearer understanding of the defense side of legal work
- the ability to create work product that is actually useful to attorneys
This is not just about handing out information.
It is about helping nurses build a real skill set.
And for nurses who want education that also counts toward their license, the program also awards 47 continuing education hours through the Board of Registered Nursing.
What you’ll find here |
Inside this free Skool community, you can expect:

Before you jump in |
Please introduce yourself and tell us:
- where you’re from
- what kind of nursing background you have
- what made you curious about this field
And if you are skeptical, that is okay too.
A lot of nurses come in here unsure if this role is real, unsure if it is different, and unsure if they could actually do it.
That is exactly why this community exists.
You do not have to have it all figured out yet, you just have to be open enough to learn.
Welcome in. We’re glad you’re here.
