Boyd, Founder and Principal of Learn to Live Aboard (LTLA), has spent years living aboard boats in the Whitsundays, his home in Queensland, Australia, and has sailed in Tahiti, Croatia, Thailand, and Greece.
He holds various marine certifications and began boating young—commuting to school in a tinny and working on a prawn boat at 15.
He’s also worked in marinas and as a charter briefer. After a successful corporate career, a melanoma diagnosis in 2015 led him back to the sea aboard his 50’ steel sailing ketch, Morningside. Boyd now splits his time between the Whitsundays and Phuket.
LTLA offers a learning space for those new to cruising or curious about boating, whether for the liveaboard lifestyle or bareboat chartering.
Our mission is to help you understand the marine environment, build your knowledge, and make your transition to life aboard safe and enjoyable.
