People donât talk about this part enough.
Leadership can feel⌠quiet.
Not because youâre alone, but because the higher you go, the fewer people you can speak to the same way.
You start carrying things others donât see:Decisions that affect peopleâs livesPressure to get it rightMoments where you have to stand firm, even when itâs uncomfortable
And sometimes, you canât process it out loud in the same spaces you used to. So yeah⌠leadership can feel lonely.
But hereâs the part we have to get right:
Lonely doesnât mean isolated. And it definitely doesnât mean disconnected.
If your leadership is creating distance instead of connection, thatâs not leadership, thatâs withdrawal.
Real leaders build circles, not walls.
They find trusted people to think with, not just people to lead. They stay human, not just âin charge.âThey create spaces where others feel seen, even when they donât feel seen themselves.
Reflection question:Where in your leadership are you choosing distance when you could be building connection?
