Cards and Dice & Everything Nice...?
We play a lot of card games at the care center I work at. They love them and I find giving things like card games a new spin gives the needed variety as well as keeping things familiar and interested in attending. And ... I am in a mission to explore budget stretching stragies! I had this thought to try and capture a months worth of activity with just common things we always have they they already know and love. Do you think it would would it be possible to have a whole month of activities with just a few supplies and still keep it fun? I think so - but I have never actually tried it! I want to challenge myself AND THIS COMMUNITY to plan 30 activities that can be done with nothing more than dice, card deck and a printed... Do you think we can do it?? Let's give it a try! So far I have come up with: 1. Design your own playing cards (or even suits) 2. Card Bingo (create your own board with cards) 3. Card scavenger hunt 4. Spoons (this would require additional supplies but who doesn't have spoons?) 5. Life size card bingo 6. Musical cards (like musical chairs) 7. Roll conversation questions 8. Card draw exercise 9. Roll a compliment 10. Roll a story 11. Cardio Cards 12. Memory Matching cards 13. Use cards to throw at a target or in a bucket 14. Do we dare cut cards in 1/2 or 1/4 and put the whole deck mixed together and use it as a puzzle to get every card together? Too easy? Fun? Thoughts? 15. Roll or draw a Rythem Other bonus ideas: 1. Sensory box from old games that have missing pieces? Hmmm... As I am looking into this more I also found some YouTube videos I thought would be interesting. Should videos count as part of this challenge? What do you think?? Like I didn't know that there were so many variations in history of the card suits - would your groups want to know more about that? I have 15 ideas can you come up with any additional ideas that residents would actually enjoy and engage in?? ♠️♣️♥️♦️🃏🎲 YOUR TURN! Share your favorites and new ideas on the comments below!
