You see, my mom had a remarkable kitchen table. Women would come at all stages of life, with all kinds of stories, and she would welcome each and every one of them. There she offered honesty without harshness, truth without judgment, and encouragement without condescension. She believed in people before they believed in themselves. I sat at that table as a younger woman. I watched. I listened. And I learned. And then I built my own. Over the years, women have naturally gathered at my table too. And together we discovered the healing power of laughter, of friendship, and how good friends are good medicine.
