Heaven and earth
What does it mean "under heaven"— the first 2 “words” in Tao Te Ching 2 ?
I see that they often speak of “heaven and earth.” In I Ging, there are signs for heaven and earth are total complements and opposites. “Under heaven” means for me all that is not heaven, in particular “earth.”
What is heaven, and what is earth?
For me, heaven is a word for a sort of divinity, supervisor of the world.
Earth is a word for not-divine existence, the mortal world.
What do you think?
