God equips His people with spiritual gifts not for personal recognition, but for the building up of the Church. Two of these gifts—prophecy and discernment—play a powerful role in guiding, protecting, and encouraging the body of Christ.
The gift of prophecy is not only about foretelling future events; it is often about speaking God’s truth, encouragement, correction, and direction in alignment with His Word. True prophecy points people back to God, strengthens faith, and brings clarity in times of confusion.
The gift of discernment allows believers to recognize what is from God and what is not. It helps us sense spiritual truth, identify deception, and respond wisely to situations and teachings. Discernment keeps us grounded and protects us from being led astray.
Both gifts must operate in humility, love, and obedience to Scripture. When used properly, prophecy and discernment work together—one speaks God’s message, while the other ensures it aligns with His Spirit and truth.
Let us seek these gifts with sincere hearts, asking God to use them to serve others, glorify Him, and strengthen the Church.
“To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.” — 1 Corinthians 12:7
