The child I couldn't figure out changed my life
WHY THIS CONVERSATION ABOUT TRAUMA & NEURODIVERGENCE IS PERSONAL FOR ME Before you watch my conversation with Kim Botto, I wanted to share why this topic matters so deeply to me. For years, I believed that if I just found the right discipline strategy, my son's behavior would improve. But as a mom of a neurodivergent child, I eventually realized the problem wasn't a lack of effort—it was a lack of understanding. What changed everything for me was learning that behavior is communication. The parenting skills I had weren't helping my son thrive, and they weren't helping me become the parent I wanted to be. When I stopped viewing behavior as something to control and started viewing it as something to understand, it changed not only my parenting, but the way I lead, teach, and care for children. In this short prequel episode, I share the personal journey that led me to become passionate about trauma-informed and neurodiversity-informed ministry, parenting, and leadership. If you're a parent, children's ministry leader, teacher, volunteer, or caregiver, I hope this encourages you to look beyond behavior and lean into curiosity. 🎙️ Watch my full conversation with Kim Botto: • https://youtu.be/LM2z6wvLuc0?si=5vw4JrwCOE5RBS0r
