Hello my friends, I wanted to make a special more reflective post for everyone here about my recent book launch, the Khemset Holistic Poker Codex. My X post can be seen here: https://x.com/luckychewy/status/2114104852364279979 Whilst writing the book, I had an interesting realization which matched up quite nicely with the content I was writing about. After many days spent editing and refining the text, I eventually realized that I was trying to speed run the completion of the book – for understandable reasons, it’s time consuming and there’s many other obligations I have, not to mention things I enjoy like family, friends, etc. The insight came in the form of recognizing that the process itself has to be enjoyable or there’s really no point. Interestingly, upon realizing this, I felt less pressure and my progress became expedited. It was wonderful and felt very cathartic to experience the paradox first hand of joy being equated with efficiency. Although I oscillated back and forth between these feelings as the process continued it served as a wonderful reminder that if I feel pressure, it’s always pressure I’ve put on myself, and while that can at times be useful it primarily isn’t self-serving. It also occurred to me that the more I enjoy the process of writing it, the more likely readers are likely to enjoy the process of reading because of the subtlety conveyed by the state of being I’m in during the creative process. I’m curious to hear from anyone here who has undertaken similar creative acts and might have any similar insights or realizations of the sort. Thanks for reading and my best wishes as always.
