Hello, and welcome to KESKY for Language Teachers! I'm Keon Esky. I've been teaching languages since 1996, and one question has stayed with me throughout my career: how can we help learners become genuinely independent? Over the years, I've come to see effective teaching not simply as moving from easy to difficult, but as making a thoughtful decision about where to begin. Every language offers several possible points of entry. The challenge for us as teachers is to identify one that provides a meaningful foundation, then build on it progressively, layer by layer. Each new element should connect with something learners have already encountered, understood or used. Learning becomes a process of discovery, connection and growing independence. This thinking lies at the heart of the KESKY Method, which I've developed through my teaching experience. I've created this community to explore these ideas, exchange practical teaching strategies, question established approaches and learn from one another. I'd like to begin with a question: What language do you teach, and what do you usually choose as your starting point? More importantly, why? I'd be interested to hear your reasoning. I look forward to our conversations. Keon
