Here’s a concept I’ve been playing with; open to thoughts or feedback.
I’ve worked in HR long enough to know that Gen X job seekers often get lost in the shuffle.
They’re either:
• Re-entering the workforce after a break
• Making a midlife pivot into a new industry
• Or just trying to keep up with shifting trends in how jobs are found, applied to, and landed
A lot of the job-seeking advice out there feels generic or aimed at fresh grads and tech pros. So I started exploring the idea of a GPT-style tool that speaks directly to Gen X needs, with support that feels experienced, not condescending.
Features I’d include:
• Resume updates for ATS filters (especially for those with 15+ years of experience)
• Interview refreshers that balance confidence with coachability
• Moving from formal to modern tone without losing professionalism
Optional: confidence prompts, LinkedIn guidance, and age-related bias blockers
Wouldn’t be fluffy. Wouldn’t be corporate. Just practical, respectful, and tuned to people who have a story not just a tech stack. What do you think? Is this something you’d use or send to someone in your life? What would you want “Ask HR” to answer for Gen X folks?
