Art prompt - Windows of Joy
Imagine you are designing a series of small windows that look into moments of happiness from your life.
Each window is a tiny artwork that captures a feeling, a memory, or a moment of calm.
You can create these using any medium you like: drawing, painting, collage, plasticine, or even simple sketches.
Your task:
Create 1–3 “windows” that each show a different joyful or comforting moment.
For each window, think about:
• What moment are you showing? (It can be real or imagined)
• What is happening inside the scene?
• What colours best represent the feeling?
• What shapes, textures, or patterns appear in the moment?
• What time of day or lighting fits the mood?
Extra creative ideas:
• Frame each window differently (circle, heart, arch, torn paper edge)
• Add symbolic details (objects, weather, animals, stars, etc.)• Let each window represent a different type of joy (calm joy, excited joy, quiet comfort, nostalgia)
Reflection:
If all your windows were placed together, what kind of place would they form?
There is no pressure for perfection—this is about exploring emotion through imagery and colour rather than technical skill.
If you want to share photos of your work, feel free or just write down something about what the creative process was like for you!
