🎁 FREE Jam Session with me & Jimmy Grant on December 27!
🎶 Join us for a PLAY-ALONG LIVE JAM SESSION with 4-bar trading (Trading 4s) on 🕔 Saturday the 27th at 5 PM (Madrid time). It’s our Christmas gift to all musicians! Tell us in the comments which tune you’d like to jam on! INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE BIG DAY: - Click on the link in the calendar and introduce the Password - Play the melody with Eva (with a few harmonizations) - Or accompany with Jimmy - Then improvise during the 4-bar trades when it’s your turn! This session is open to all instruments! No special technical setup is needed — your microphone will stay muted so everyone can play along without audio interference. If you want to play together in real time and actually hear the other musicians, check the setup instructions in the classroom and contact @Thomas Wollersen to join his online interactive jam sessions. You play guitar? Check out Jimmy Grant's skool platform ON THIS LINK!
Rhythm-A-Ning
A Thelonius Monk rhythm changes bebop head for unison playing. Playing a less known head in unison at a jam online can be a bit tricky. Some people are good readers, others are not. Each one has a more or less personal idea about phrasing. Another question is how the sound of the different instruments might blend. In this recording there is a trumpet, a flute, a trombone and a tenor sax plus my violin. They are not exactly together but close enough. Rhythmically this head is a bit odd, that is why I recorded it to serve as an example of how we might do it. It is rather minimalistic with little rhythmic traps where counting may be good thing to do.

9 jamming online in real-time
One may not be used to see violins/fiddles jamming alongside wind-players, keys and guitars. Have a look at this unedited recording of our last public live stream jam with @Ann Vancoillie and Paul Epstein playing fiddle. https://www.jacktrip.com/recordings/7xrUBcwVFGoU2v5d4asiI There is a lot of interaction going on and everybody seems to enjoy the experience where making mistakes, while not mandatory, is part of the experience.
"One jam a day keeps the doctor away" 🌞
We had so much musical fun in the jams organized by @Thomas Wollersen . Once again: jamming is the way forward — the best way to grow and to apply what you’ve learned in the lessons. And online jams are simply part of modern life: they started during Covid, and now they’re a huge advantage for anyone who can’t always leave the house — for family reasons, time constraints, work, or whatever — but still wants to jam daily with motivated musicians. They’re also perfect for anyone who prefers to start jamming online before feeling confident enough to join a live jam. We’re still missing a few violinists who would like to join us. Don’t hesitate to contact Thomas and come jam with us!
