The books that changed us
Hey Jammies! Today I thought we could reflect on something that had an impact, following on from @Anastasija Kulundzic and I's conversation on the book "The courage to be disliked" by Ichiro Kishimi & Fumitake Koga. I'd love to know the books you've read or listened to that have had a huge impact on you, the way you think, the way you act, behave and the way you go about life. I never used to be a big reader, in fact I think until I was 28 I had only read 3 books in total. 1. Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life 2. Kensukes Kingdom (a teenage book, for some reason really connected with me) I think here it was about the adventure, the survival and friendship. 3. Tiger eyes (I have no idea what it was about but it was a school project. Since then, I have collected far more books than I have read and I do intend to read them when I have balance and more structure in my life (when I quit my job and go full time here) It all started in 2023 for me, right as my marriage was falling apart. I found I was lost, had more time to myself and I went to learning. The first Book: The Resilience Project GEM: Gratitude Empathy and Mindfulness. This had such a huge impact on me it led me to my decision to fly to Vietnam and volunteer teaching English! The Second Book: Jay Shetty's 8 rules of love. This was my quest to see if I could save a failing marriage, see if I could learn anything about relationships and love. Turns out it was about these things, but the relationship to self and love of self and how we can apply that in life. The Third Book: The Courage to be Disliked This one had me engaged start to finish, an easy read with powerful lessons. Finally, a book I listened to "The Secret" -- taught me about the law of attraction and how powerful the mind can be. Now these books all have different meanings to me, they all have different lessons and if you want to learn more.. ask me in the comments! Now over to you all!!

Stories… let’s share!
What are the stories you tell yourself that hold you back (or have held you back in the past) For me, it’s always been a I’m not good enough, I’m not deserving, I can’t do this because I’m too busy, too tired, no energy etc… It’s important we recognise before we rewire. I’m curious to know yours and see if we can Notice the negative thought patterns, shift our perspective and rewire our Brains to open the door of infinite potential! Let me know we can work through them together! Remember this is a safe space, no judgement, no advice (unless asked for) only support, empathy, kindness and compassion! Let’s share! Big love Arthur
Christopher's Intro
- Name and Where you are from Christopher and from Vancouver Island, BC, Canada - The reason why you wanted to join this community To help support the creator and his visions shares some alignment with where I want to go too. I've found my purpose back in 2018. but it took to 2021 to figure out how to build a business around it. Even though I know the direction and reason I want to go - the language getting it (understood clearly) in front of others has been a issue I am working on since 2023/24. - The best lesson you have learnt in life to date and why! 1. Do not take advice from someone you would not take criticism from 2. Stop caring about what others think of what you are doing - and just for go it! (May add to this as I wrote a list similar to this back in 2019 I need to dig up) - IF YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE: Your Experiences with Mental Health (yourself or seen in others) Grew up with Dyslexia and am still having to battle that some days more than others. I've also dealt with other difficult times, where self worth was low and had help to overcome it. On the other side - I am someone that strangers just open up to me and will tell me their life story on the first time meeting me. I attract many who are dealing with issues or troubles due to my calm kindness; which means I have had to enforce stronger boundaries to not be a Trauma dumping ground. - Attach a photo that makes you smile!
