For me, creativity is a way of exploring life — the beautiful parts, the difficult parts, the questions, the lessons and the moments that change us. Through music, writing and visual art, I try to turn experiences and thoughts into something that can be felt, questioned and perhaps understood from a different perspective. My music often moves between reggae, soul and conscious songwriting, with themes such as resilience, faith, freedom, love, identity and the courage to remain true to yourself. I’ve been thinking about how creativity can change our perspective. Sometimes we create because we are happy. Sometimes because we are hurting. Sometimes we simply have something inside us that needs a language of its own. A song can make us see an experience differently. A painting can make us notice something we usually overlook. Writing can help us understand thoughts we didn’t even realize we were carrying. Maybe creativity isn’t only about creating something new. Maybe it’s also about seeing something familiar with new eyes.
