pilgrim, lecturer, and Director & founder of the Islamic Seminary of Understanding (ISU)
Hajja Ustadah Rukiye Zathra Abdul-Mutakallim embraced Islam at age 18 in Izmir,
Turkey. She has completed Hajj twice and spent over four decades traveling across three
continents, teaching, studying, and serving diverse communities. She is the founding
director and lead instructor of the Islamic Seminary of Understanding (ISU), an
institution committed to lifelong Islamic education. She is currently under the private
tutelage of renowned scholars in Cairo and has lectured at institutions such as the Arab
Academy for Science and Technology in Egypt and Al-Haqhbin Institute in Ohio. She is
widely recognized for her roles in interfaith advocacy, disaster relief, storytelling, and
civic leadership, having been featured on national media and having authored spiritually
resonant works.
