I watched a video where the guest talked about stoicism, and I immediately had a negative reaction to it. But, the more I listened, the more I began to agree with much of what it says. Stoicism says: - You cannot control most external events. - You can control your thoughts, choices, and responses. - A good life comes from character, not comfort. The main virtues in stoicism are wisdom, courage, justice, and temperance. A plain-English version would be: βDo not waste yourself fighting reality. Master yourself instead.β Here's where I think the Christian can align: Stoicism helps a man stand firm. Christianity tells him who he must stand under. Does that track?
