I know it sounds counterintuitive (because it kinda is), but you'll find out what's really important by stopping doing things that may not make sense.
Way back, when I was in IT, we had suspicions that certain people weren't looking (ever) at custom reports we built for them. After a few months, we just turned the reports off.
Literally nine times out of ten, nobody said a word. They didn't really need those reports and you probably don't really need to do *that thing* (whatever that thing is).
