Hambone
Hambone and beans, cornbread
Taters, onion what we was fed
We didn’t have pick a meal
Eat what was there or be hungry still
Moma cooked she she said done
You got to the table before it was gone
Homemade buttermilk biscuits, butter
For desert sop it in syrup or peanut butter
Or mix them together for a better taste
No food at our house went to waste
So grateful for mom who cooked meals
We didn’t get to choose but we got filled.
Hambone and beans once in a while
Reminds me how good we had her style.
My favorite was her roast, rice and gravy
Gravy was sweet, tasty and savory.
Her homemade pizza next on my list
Now when we go home this dish we insist!
