You Loose Some You WIN Some
The other day, I had a meeting with a potential client. Backstory with her — she was a warm lead for my business. Because of the September rush and all the madness with children, our conversation and potential partnership got delayed for about a week and a half.
A couple of days ago, we picked things back up and scheduled a meeting to fully go over the marketing campaign. We were supposed to meet on Wednesday evening, but because of a family situation, we rescheduled for Thursday morning.
We got on a call, talked for a bit, and around 5–8 minutes in, she told me that her husband had enrolled in marketing classes.
That didn’t feel good — after nurturing a potential client for so long, to hear that they might not need your services because of marketing courses.
But that same day, I had another meeting with a different warm lead. We talked, had an amazing conversation, and eventually came to an agreement to work together. Here’s the interesting part — this client turned out to be 5x bigger than the one who said they’d be attending marketing classes.
That immediately brought a smile to my face and taught me an important lesson, not only in business but in life: “No matter how hard something bad hits you, allow yourself to be sad for 5 minutes. After that, pick yourself up and move forward — because you never know what you’ll find around the next corner.”
The story with the first potential client isn’t over yet, so if you’re curious how it ends or what twists it takes, let me know in the comments 🙂
