Safe items for DIY Builds
As I'm working through all of the steps and stages of the moving process, I'm pondering which plants to start first and which method to use. At the same time I've been slowly purchasing all of the tools and supplies I will need. Since the Kratkey method is the easiest and most simple method it makes the most sense to "cut my hydroponic teeth" 🦷 with it. I'm ready with two different sizes and types of mason jars, although I've already encountered a problem. Pondering the solution to that problem however, raised a question about DIY builds in general.... I've seen people use multiple things to build their various grow containers -- buckets, totes, bins, PVC pipes, and etc. My question is this: How can you tell which things are safe to use to grow food, herbs, flowers and other things that we will eventually ingest? Do we have to worry about the trays we grow our microgreens in? Or the tubes in our watering systems? The container we use as a reservoir? Or the net pot that holds our plant? I used kiddy swimming pools in my container garden last summer and other assorted plastic pots and planters and now I wonder what chemicals and other substances leeched into the things I was eating!🤔🤨🥹

Any Suggestions??
This is a problem I deal with every time I try cucumbers in Kratky method. I’ve seen others have success growing cukes in this method so I keep on trying! I have it growing inside my grow tent - Diva variety . I changed nutrients to a mature blooming stage blend and added calcium mag. Not sure if lighting, humidity or temperature are an issue. My Kratky tomatoes seem happy

First timer with Kratky
I’m going to try some Kratky jars for fun. What nutrients would work best for lettuce and herbs, and how much per gallon of water? Any other suggestions? I’m going to do a demo for my gardening class (hence the portable sized jars) at the end of the month, so I want to get some started.
