Introduction
السلام عليكم ورحمه الله وبركاته أحسن الله إليكم My name is Abdulmalik McGill and I am from Virginia. My mother is Ethiopian and My father is African American Alhamdulillah. I recently completed nursing school (Accelerated BSN program). I plan to work in the states for maybe a couple of years, then transition to the UAE (as an ICU nurse/in acute care setting [like ER nurse, etc.]), then eventually establish my own business, so that I can prioritize other things like seeking knowledge for example. I aspire to make hijrah for many reasons. From amongst those reason is I believe it to be wajib. Another essential reason for me aspiring to make hijrah is for the preservation of my deen and my family's deen (in the future when I get married InShaaAllah). It is a serious affair in which Allah has ordered us to protect ourselves and our families from the Fire, and, as I live out here in the West, I realize the severity of living out here and how it is not conducive for myself or family in the future. I want to make hijrah because I know that living in the Muslim lands, it caters for one to be able to practice their religion openly and freely in an unrestricted manner. Masaajid everywhere, halal food everywhere, athaan, etc are some examples. I want to make hijrah because of its rewards and virtues that are well known in the Quran and Sunnah. From amongst them, the erasing of all sins (both major and minor), among many others (so many to list, so please study the reward and virtues when you can InShaaAllah). When pondering over verses like Surah An-Nisa ayah 97-100, how could one not find the need to perform hijrah!?!?!?! I want to live in a land in which Salafiyyah is widespread, which, Alhamdulillah, UAE has that foundation. Sorry for this ramble, but I could go on and on, but I will end it here InShaaAllah. JazakAllahu Khayran for your time and patience. Next Stop.....UAE!!!!!

Importance of Hijrah
Allah says in the Quran: “When the angels seize the souls of those who have wronged themselves scolding them, “What was wrong with you?” they will reply, “We were oppressed in the land.” The angels will respond, “Was Allah’s earth not spacious enough for you to emigrate?” It is they who will have Hell as their home—what an evil destination!’ — Surah An-Nisa (4:97) 📖 Ibn al-‘Arabi al-Maaliki said: “Hijrah means leaving dār al-ḥarb and going to dār al-Islām. It was obligatory in the Prophet’s time ﷺ and remains so for anyone who fears for their life or religion.” (Nayl al-Awṭār 8/33) Don’t underestimate the power of relocating for the sake of your dīn. Sometimes Hijrah is not just a choice it’s a lifeline. Wouldn’t it be better for us to live in lands where Islam is practiced and where we can practice it safely without discrimination or oppression.
